Landesliga: Two clear home wins

Bavenstedt wins clearly, Ochtersum celebrates first second-half success

Two home games, two clear results – yet with different meanings: SV Bavenstedt prevailed in the Landesliga with 4:1 (1:0) against SV Iraklis Hellas and stands in fifth place after the victory. VfR Germania Ochtersum won 4:0 (2:0) against TSV Barsinghausen and, as a team already confirmed as relegated, ended its dry spell: it was the first win of the second half of the season.

Bavenstedt turns an open game after the break

On the pitch, an even match developed at first. Iraklis Hellas had a great chance to take the lead after about 20 minutes, when Bavenstedt's keeper Lyon Raeck, under pressure in his own penalty area, could not clear cleanly. The shot went wide, and later the guests also hit the post. Apart from that, Bavenstedt's defense stood firm and allowed little.

Offensively, SVB became dangerous mainly after crosses, but initially remained too inaccurate in the final third. Shortly before the break, the lead fell: after a cross from Tristan Heine, Max Wasl followed up energetically, won the ball again and laid it back to Mahdy El Saleh, who slotted in for 1:0 in the 45th minute.

Control grows, so does the lead

After the break, Bavenstedt increasingly took control and upped the tempo – substitutions also provided additional presence. In the 62nd minute, Luis Baule used a rebound to make it 2:0.

The decisive scene followed later in the guests' penalty area: an Iraklis defender cleared a shot on the line while falling with his hand. The referee decided against a red card, but did award a penalty. Noah Warneboldt converted safely in the 83rd minute to make it 3:0.

The match was not quite over yet. Ilias Benkhentache turned strongly in midfield and played the pass behind the defense, Luis-Erik Grün reduced the score to 3:1 in the 87th minute with a remarkable finish. The answer came immediately: Rudi Hasso put the finishing touch to 4:1 with a shot into the top right corner just a minute later. With the home win, Bavenstedt now ranks fifth in the table.

Ochtersum takes its chances consistently

The match in Ochtersum also started open and cautious. After about 20 minutes, the hosts became more purposeful and gained more control of the game. Barsinghausen, still fighting to stay in the league, rarely got dangerously close to goal because Ochtersum's defense stood compactly.

Shortly before the break, Germania rewarded itself for the better phase: after a well-executed attack, Fynn Müller prevailed and scored in the 43rd minute to make it 1:0.

Immediately after the restart, Ochtersum increased the pressure. After a foul on Jonas Schmedt in the penalty area, Wael Ismail converted the resulting penalty in the 50th minute to make it 2:0.

The preliminary decision came in the 59th minute: Schmedt won the ball, dribbled through and set up Dominik Söllner, who made it 3:0.

Schmedt himself provided the final score when he finished off a through ball from Müller in the 72nd minute to make it 4:0.

The win doesn't change the situation, but the impression

For Ochtersum, the result no longer changes the overall sporting situation, as relegation was already certain. Nevertheless, the performance carries weight: it was the first win of the second half of the season and only the second win ever for the club in the Landesliga.

What stood out most was how clearly Ochtersum took control after the balanced opening phase and used its chances consistently. Barsinghausen did get close to goal a few times from set pieces, but found little reward against the stable defense and goalkeeper Kilian Blanke.

In summary, both games followed a similar pattern: open matches turned into clear home victories because Bavenstedt and Ochtersum remained defensively stable and used their chances more efficiently. For Bavenstedt, this pays off immediately in the table – for Ochtersum, at least in a more conciliatory second-half moment.
