On Saturday, September 26, 2026, the historic St. Andrew's Church Tower in Hildesheim will transform into a spectacular competition arena. In the Andreasturm Challenge, every second counts: Participants run through the tower, past the bell tower and the old mechanical clockwork, all the way up to the observation deck.

Stair running with a unique backdrop

364 steps lead through the city's landmark. At 114.5 meters high, it will be decided who has the best condition, the strongest mental endurance, and the most efficient pace in a direct time duel. Instead of stadium grass and running tracks, narrow stairs, historic architecture, and exceptional tension await high above the roofs of Hildesheim.

Upon reaching the top, the panoramic view over Hildesheim rewards the effort. In clear visibility, the view even extends to the Brocken. The special stadium atmosphere is created right in the church tower: cheering fans, encouraging shouts, and the rhythm of quick steps accompany the runners on their way up.

The Andreasturm Challenge is aimed at children and teenagers from the age of eight, hobby runners, and ambitious athletes. In the Blue Light Challenge, members of the fire department, emergency services, THW, police, and other aid organizations compete against each other with at least ten kilograms of extra weight.
