Play together, marvel, and discover new favorite games
When the dice roll at the game table and children's laughter echoes through the Learning Garden, a special family experience begins in the City Library of Hildesheim. On December 9, 2026, adults and children aged eight and up are invited to try out new games together and spend an inspiring time with each other.
Game fun for multiple generations
Numerous games from the library's collection are ready and waiting to be discovered. The game experts from the City Library explain the rules, provide guidance, and support families in a child-friendly way as they start playing. This way, children can quickly access new game ideas and enjoy an age-appropriate learning experience filled with joy, curiosity, and quality time together.
Discover, try out, and learn together
Board games promote concentration, communication, logical thinking, and social development in a playful manner. Children practice adhering to rules, making decisions, and finding fair solutions. Adults experience how much fun learning can be in a shared gaming session. The focus is on encounters, imagination, and the good feeling of discovering something new together.
A safe meeting point in the City Library
The Learning Garden offers a peaceful setting for the family event. The knowledgeable support from the library team provides orientation and helps ensure a safe and respectful interaction at the game table. The games presented belong to the library's collection and can be borrowed after the game meeting.
Accessible
The regular entrance is located at Judenstraße 1. Barrier-free access is available via Scheelenstraße 26. This makes the Game Meeting an accessible family experience for children aged eight and up and their adult companions.
